HUS is co-located with the relevant research institutes at Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry at the UiB. UiB and HUS holds long lasting research interest in diagnosis and treatment of severe soft tissue infection, since the emergence of beta-hemolytic streptococcal, necrotizing fasciitis emerged more than 20 years ago. The Division for ID established a clinical and diagnostics bio bank in 2005 covering severe bacterial infectious diseases, including NSTI. The present work will be conducted in HUS and in UiB at Institute of Medicine, Section for Infectious Diseases, which is a well-known research center, focused on translational research within immunity and infectious diseases.
