The University has 86 state-funded research units working mainly in three fields; health, the environment and material technologies. The University is committed to more than 80 European Union projects and participates actively in The Seventh Framework Programme for Research and Technological Development (FP7). The work will be conducted by the team “bacterial Pathogenesis and Innate Immunity” (headed by F.Vandenesch) which is part of a multidisciplinary unit called “Immunity Infection & Vaccination”. The laboratory serves as the French National Reference laboratory for Staphylococci and conducts epidemiological studies and provides expertise not only for French researchers and health care, but also for numerous European surveillance networks.
